Just received this email asking me to write a short review of Grasslands who haven't yet delivered the plants I ordered nearly a month ago..... I suppose the above paragraph is my review.

We ordered quite a few plants from Grasslands. 12 Buddleas and several assorted plants. Three plants arrived in a cardboard box which was well packaged and the plants were in good condition. The rest arrived in two large cardboard boxes and when we opened them some were upside down and some if the plants were broken. We were not very happy. We contacted Grasslands and they have given us a refund on 3 of the most broken plants. We think they need to sort out their packing/delivery process.

I may have missed it elsewhere on the website but the first time I noticed there was a minimum order of £99 was at the checkout. Sorry, I’m not prepared to commit that amount as a first order. I’ll look elsewhere.

I received my order promptly, however the packing could have been much better. My biggest concern is with what looks like box blight on the box plants that were delivered. I have cut this out as best I could and reduced the height of the box by a third, I hope that the box blight will not return or infect the other box plants currently in my garden. Were the plants checked for box blight before despatch? I would be grateful to receive your feed-back on this. Thank you. David Ward

The size was much smaller than expected and smaller than the 4.5 lt pots but it was wider. I did complain about these but by the time I got the answer back to photograph them my gardener had planted. I also mentioned to the driver that the plants looked small for the price Disappointed to be honest

I was sorry to see this tall palm had been transported badly and all upper leaves were bent, damaged or broken.

Found this tree to be very pot bound branches were crossing back over main stem looked like they had been tied up for a long time one of main leaders had been snapped in transit unhappy as this was most expensive item. All the other plants ordered were fine and in good order.

I have previously ordered and visited this nursery for years . This order arrived in a very poor condition. I had to send 4 items back and the others were so dry they still look weak . I emailed to convey my opinion and was dealt with as though I had no knowledge . I’ve been a gardening for 40 years .

Hi Christina, We sent you the following message on March 31st but it must have got lost in cyber space "Dear Cristina I am sorry but unfortunately we are missing some of the items for your order, We have tried to get in touch but have not been able to. We have now refunded your order in full. Sorry for any inconvenience Regards" Sorry for the lack of communication.

Very scrawny specimens I'm afraid. I would never have bought them had I been in the nursery myself.

The plant received was not as advertised. Both shorter and not sufficiently thick to act as a hedge.

Ordered 15 bamboo - told they will be 2 metres high from pot - turned up average height 1.60 . Bit disappointing as the original screening height won’t do the job!

Bought 8 of these, 4 were barely 90cm, 4 were more like 75cm, none were anything like 110cm. I wanted them to replace the 4 v small ones which they said they'd do, but while looking at pick up times they came back 3 days later and said they'd refund the difference for all the plants for the next size down. This was only £16 (out of about £75) but by this stage i'd had enough of the numerous phone calls to try and get them to ring back so I accepted. Not great customer service and I can see now why they were cheaper than most other places

Hi Tom, I am sorry you are not happy with the outcome of this issue, we did apologise for the plants not being within the correct size range and we did downrate the charge to the lower size of plant for all the plants you received. Once again, I am sorry we did not provide you with the plants you expected. Paul

I am not able to comment on the quality of plants; the day after I placed my order online I received email telling me that the plant I ordered was no longer in stock, despite the fact that their website was still saying "in stock". So it seems that there is a problem with updating their online information. I received a refund promptly.

Plants beautiful, swift delivery, great value for money, reason I have only given Grasslands a two star rating is because of the New Zealand Flatworms which came in my plants! These are a predator of our common earthworm! The hassle of having to wash off all the soil and hunt for flatworms and eggs was a time consuming chore I hadn’t banked on and would’ve preferred not to undertake. Grasslands weren’t overly concerned when I contacted them and just referred me back to the website (I had already informed them of) on how to get rid of them. Unfortunately I won’t be buying from Grasslands again.

My delivery arrived in good time and the plants were in good health. However on unpacking the first plant (Osmanthus Buckwoodii) I found two New Zealand Flatworms (had to Google what they were). They are a natural predator of our common earthworm and need to be controlled. The website www.gardenorganic.org.uk requests sightings are logged on their survey and suggests ways of disposal. I contacted Grasslands for advice but was just given the same advice which I’d already found on the web. This entails washing all the soil from the roots of the 4 shrubs and a Jasmine, disposing of all the soil in the household waste and inspecting for eggs. I’m happy with the quality and size of my plants but think Grasslands have a duty of care towards their customers to advise them that Flatworms have been found in their nursery. They didn’t seem overly concerned but I wouldn’t have purchased any plants had I known Flatworm could be present. If garden centres are aware of this pest we should be warned before purchasing so that we have a choice whether we want the hassle of washing/checking any plants!

Lovely plant on dispatch, but packaging allowed it to arrive with the top foot snapped off, a real shame.
