Plants both died within days of arriving. Called customer service and they said to give it 2 weeks to see if it was shock. I then found out that you only have 14 days to return if there’s an issue so impossible to leave for 2 weeks! Very bad experience.

Hi Gabriel, Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear that your plants did not thrive. The Trachelospermum jasminoides you received were fully established, healthy plants at the time of dispatch. This variety is robust and unlikely to deteriorate so quickly unless there has been a significant lack of water—particularly during warm or dry spells, or if not watered thoroughly upon arrival. Our customer service team advised a short period of monitoring in case the plants were simply experiencing transplant shock, which is common after delivery and usually resolves with proper care. However, we understand your concern about the 14-day return window, and we’re sorry if that caused confusion. We’re always here to help troubleshoot planting or care issues where possible, and we regret that your experience didn’t meet expectations on this occasion.

Extremely disappointed with how my recent issue was handled as a first time customer. We purchased both a shrub and a tree from your nursery, with the tree being the reason for arranging delivery. The tree had a difference in price compared to the others which led to us believing it may be incorrectly labelled in-store, and after confirming with a staff member that it was the correct item, we proceeded with the order. Upon delivery, it became clear the item delivered was not what we had been assured it was, so it was rejected and returned, as per our call with Customer services on the drivers phone. Despite this mistake originating from your team, only 50% of the delivery fee was refunded—likely because the shrub was delivered. However, that shrub would have been transported in our car if not for the tree. The delivery would not have been arranged at all had we not been misled by your team. I find it unreasonable that we were left to absorb part of the cost for a delivery we would not have made without your error. The back-and-forth communication, lack of clear accountability, emails sent regularly just before you closed and ultimate refusal to fully resolve the issue fairly is extremely disappointing.

Communication 10/10 Logistics 1/10 They use APC which take zero care during transit. Box arrived in pieces with a very damaged Rhododendron inside. Customer support promptly dispatched a replacement again with APC who have today advise a delay with delivery .

I didn't get delivery of all the plants I ordered. I raised this with the Grasslands team and was informed that the missing box will be tracked and delivered later. Three weeks passed and I still didn't get delivery

You have to jump through impossible hoops when it comes to returns or replacements. I bought a hardy shrub (Eleagnus Vivileg) which unfortunately failed. I gave it care and chance to recover but to no avail. Tried to get it replaced but told it should have been returned in the same pot as purchased (I dug it out and put it into a plastic wrapper for carriage). CHECK THEIR RETURNS POLICY before you buy. You have to inform Grasslands in writing within 2 days of purchase and, apparently it has to be returned in the same pot as delivered. BE VERY AWARE, once you transfer your plant or expensive tree from pot to ground you’re on your own without replacement or refund. Some plants do fail for no apparent reason and many other local suppliers offer up to 5 years warranty without question. Grasslands does not do customer care. I will be buying my stock from other suppliers in future.

Poor quality products, many of which have died (hundreds of pounds worth). Customer services next to useless, even when you escalate to management. Just go somewhere else is my recommendation, because if you have a problem, and there’s a good chance you might, Grasslands don’t give a care.

I ordered a Prunus cer tree several months ago. I’ve decided now, to write my review. When the delivery driver arrived, he handed me a Rhododendron shrub. The soil was so dry, hadn’t been watered for delivery from what I could tell. I was the last delivery of the day, and he realised he’d delivered my tree to a property miles away. The driver said he’d had a very long day, and told me he’d drive back to where my tree had been delivered to. I phoned Grasslands to explain the problem while the driver stood with me, and told her the driver was going back to previous house. Her attitude was wrong. No apology, just a bland response about it. All I wanted to do, was try to sort the situation with them. It was was an error on the drivers part, and the customer didn’t check delivery properly on receiving the order. Mistakes are made, I understand that Driver phoned me when he got to the property, but the people had gone out. He told me he would drive back down there the next day to collect my tree. I phoned Ashridge again, and asked for a refund. Simply because of the uncaring attitude I was given over the phone. I told her I wasn’t prepared to give them my money with an attitude like that. Luckily, I found that same tree in a garden centre. It’s growing really well.

Delivery was about 2 weeks after it was guaranteed which incurred a cost as we had gardeners booked. I chased a few times, but staff kept fobbing me off. Definitely won’t use again or recommend.

Bought a tree which looked nice when it was delivered but the rootball was basically a lump of clay. When I cut the wire to plant it the clay fell off cleanly showing next to no roots. Literally. The main roots had simply been sliced through and there were only very small side roots left. Planted as best I could and watering very conscientiously but not hopeful it will survive tbh, let alone thrive. V disappointed

Dear Joe Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear you're feeling disappointed with the tree you received. The Prunus ‘Kanzan’ you ordered is a field-grown, root-balled tree. These are lifted by experienced teams who handle thousands of trees each season and are well-trained in taking the appropriate amount of root to ensure successful transplanting. While the rootball may appear compact and clay-heavy, it contains vital fine roots that are essential for establishment. We generally recommend not removing the hessian and wire wrapping before planting, as this helps preserve the structure of the rootball and protect those fine roots during transplant. The material is biodegradable and will break down naturally in the soil without restricting growth. We appreciate your efforts in watering and caring for the tree—it often takes some time for root-balled trees to fully settle, and with proper aftercare, we hope it will establish well and thrive. Kind regards, Paul

Plant came with several broken branches from not being secured suring transit. There were also several brown branches that the company stated was due to winter die back. I have had to prune quite alot of these branches so the plant is not quite what we thought we were going to receive. When the delivery driver picked the plant up the pot fell off as it was so dry. All in all I would not use this company ever again

First delivery took a long time to arrive (I had to call 3 times) When it arrived I was happy with the product. Unfortunately, 2 days later a duplicate order arrived. On phoning them I was told I must have placed this second order accidentally as it had gone through a few minutes after my first order!!! No idea what happened but no way would I have placed an identical second order a few minutes after my first! They had charged me and charged the delivery fee. They did agree to come and collect it but again I had to phone multiple times and really hassle to get them to eventually collect it. Once collected, they did finally refund the cost of plants but not the £25 delivery fee!! Really disappointed with the customer service here- won’t be ordering from them again !

Barefoot yew plants were much shorter than described and very very dry. Must have been harvested ages ago and sat around. Hopefully they survive. Definitely not using grasslands again

There were four very small and dying yew in the batch of ten. This was disappointing as we have used Grasslands previously for several large purchases and the quality was excellent. Not the usual standard - we have previously recommended Grasslands to friends, neighbours and garden professionals. However, very disappointing on this occasion - not at all how they are pictured.

Hello Shahla, Thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear 4 of the plants were not up to our usual quality. After looking at the photos you have sent I agree that they are not fit for purpose and should not have been sent. I have refunded them back and you should get this shortly. Sorry for this mistake and I hope you might consider us for next time. Best Wishes Grasslands Nursery

I found the same size Red Robin Photinia plants at £29.99 not the £62.02 charged each for 7 plants. This is a massive difference and I feel I have been significantly overcharged. Happy to discuss at anytime?

Purchased a Loropetalum Chinense 'Fire Dance' advertised as in a 3 litre pot. This arrived having been shaken up in transit and was perfectly obviously a smaller potted plant that had extremely recently (days at most) been potted on into a 3 litre container. A reasonable email, with photo, to customer services was met with a 'sorry you are not satisfied' and a blindingly obvious 'potted on so that they can grow a bigger root system' - no apology for the misrepresentation or any customer service offer of discount, future or otherwise. Will not be getting any more custom and i advise you to steer clear.

We ordered our laurels, which we tagged with our name, 2 weeks ago and was promised delivery the next week. Towards the end of the week we rang and were told that the products we had ordered were pre-ordered and not for delivery until October. We had picked out and put tags on the ones we wanted and paid for so how were we not having them until October. We were told that delivery wouldnt be the following Monday but would try for the Tuesday. We were due to get them delivered today but have just rang and they said delivery not today now. We havent even received a phone call to say they were not coming. We had to ring them to question why we hadnt heard off them with a delivery slot. We are now still waiting for someone to ring us back to tell us what is going on. Took our money (over £500) and customer service and communication appalling.

Would never buy again from this company Grasslands one of the main men would never admit to the trees I brought were almost rootless explained absolute nonsense? This so called man told me that he grew the trees yet Im certain they were shipped in from abroad as the had a blue tape round the stem which I believe is a customs must when importing trees?

Not a great experience, first they delivered the laurels I ordered to the wrong address even though they were using their own delivery driver and it would have been obvious it was the wrong address as it had a different house name. Then the replacement trees they sent a couple of weeks later were yellowed, one was falling out of the pot with roots showing even though I had specifically asked them to ensure the replacement trees were decent. I was so disappointed with the condition of the replacement plants I opened a return. Then several weeks later they called me and advised they would collect the next day which was nowhere near enough notice. I was away with work which I told them during the call yet their delivery driver still showed up at 6.25 am. Lucky I wasn’t home that day as I would have been very annoyed being woken up at that time of the morning. They now state they can only provide 1 days’ notice of collection which is ridiculous, and will not refund until they do collect so really they are ensuring they don’t collect and thus don’t have to refund!
